Community Food Centres Canada
Numerous Evaluation, Strategy & Research Projects
Toronto, 2013-2024

CFCC-Logo---RGB.png

In her role as Research and Evaluation Manager, Meredith designed and implemented a national evaluation strategy and accompanying tools for multiple community food centres across Canada to allow for effective measurement of shared outcomes such as increased access to healthy food, social inclusion and civic engagement, and strengthening of impact through process evaluation. Capacity building and training in evaluation with the wider food security sector was a valued component of her work at CFCC. Good Roots remains engaged with CFCC through evaluation of their Market Greens grant program.

You definitely want Meredith Davis on your team. She has a knack for getting to the heart of your challenge or ambition in a hurry. Meredith is a great listener, researcher, facilitator and strategist who always keeps your context in mind — budget, landscape, opportunities. I can’t recommend her skills and professionalism enough.

The Association for Opera in Canada
Opera Impact Platform
Toronto, 2018-2022

Good Roots is collaborating with The Association for Opera in Canada and its members to develop and digitize a civic impact framework that will allow opera companies, educational programs and other opera stakeholders to capture, combine and share information about the difference their work is making in their communities and for the country as a whole and to strengthen their impact over time. Find a summary of the framework here and see a graphic recording by Devon Kerslake detailing the project here.

Meredith is an evaluation natural, completely at ease in the swirling and sometimes overwhelming rapids of themes, impacts, indicators, and outcomes, with an ability to inspire individual confidence in the work of evidence-gathering. Working with Good Roots gives me a calming sense of 'You too can do this'.

Provided a comprehensive suite of process and impact evaluation supports to a community engaged theatre and oral history project called The Tale of a Town - Canada and currently to The Empathy Squad project, including:

  • Indicator selection

  • Program logic model development

  • Articulation of theories of change

  • Development, administration and analysis of various program evaluation tools

We worked with a designer to communicate the Tale of a Town results in a visually interesting manner. Read an annual evaluation report here.

Meredith is a thorough, patient and extremely knowledgeable evaluation consultant. For my company, Meredith took the time to get to know us and what we were all about, then crafted an evaluation plan that fit our objectives and worked within our company structure. Throughout the process Meredith was there to guide us and keep us on track. She would always deliver on the materials and information needed on time, and her expertise in combination with her clarity resulted in an evaluation that was everything we needed it to be. I would recommend Good Roots Consulting to anyone who is looking to formalize their impact into an impressive platform for presentation.

Peel Food Action Council
Inaugural Strategic Plan
Peel Region, 2020

Facilitated the development of the inaugural strategic plan for the Peel Food Action Council, including an extensive community consultation phase with stakeholders from across the food system. Results included:

  • Identification of organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats

  • Definition of core values, strategic priorities, strategies, actions and performance measures

  • Development of implementation planning templates and the establishment of an implementation planning committee

Read the strategic plan report here.

The team at Good Roots provided thoughtful and engaged support for the development of the Peel Food Action Council’s first strategic plan. As a relatively new group with diverse representation from across sectors, they used a variety of effective facilitation tools to build consensus, identify strategic priorities, and lay the groundwork for implementation. They offered high-quality and customized support throughout the whole process and were always willing to adapt their methods to meet our specific needs and pivot to address new issues as they arose.

The Brampton Arts Organization
Data Strategy, Annual Surveying & Event Feedback and Analysis
Brampton, 2021-ongoing

Developed a comprehensive survey that is delivered to the Brampton arts and culture community annually and we provide ongoing support to streamline and improve the process every year. We also support post-event qualitative and quantitative analysis which is used by the Brampton Arts Organization to improve activities and to craft insightful reports and presentations from the results.

Thanks to Meredith and the team at Good Roots’ expertise, we're able to delve deeper into understanding the impact of our initiatives and effectively communicate our findings to stakeholders at many different levels.
